WE ARE PAINTING IN ITALY in April, May, June, September and October .   We are also available to stage the workshop at the site of your choice!

2016-03-06-2432Painting in the Appenines

Like our former Paris workshops, Painting in the Apennines is a guided and fully-furnished painting tour.   Paints, easels, canvas, brushes, palettes are all provided, so you don’t have to bring your own.  We’ll set up our easels and paint what inspires us. For those who need instruction, Blair or Laurie will guide. Experienced painters will enjoy painting in a new setting that is sure to produce new results. Beginners will be astounded by what they can do.  Everyone has a good time.   The tour will take you out of the studio into nature where you will learn “plein air” techniques. We will paint  in acrylic, so you can carry your painting home with you.  We accommodate other mediums as well, so just ask.

Plein Air Painting Workshops

Join us for a  three-day (1200 euros) or five-day  (2000 euros) workshop to paint in some the glorious hills of Northern Italy.   We will pick you up in Bologna, and drive you Rocca Malatina, where we will provide accommodation and food.    Our rooms are based on double occupancy, so if you wish to bring a non-painting partner, we can arrange that.  We paint all day, in a variety of locations.  Please leave us a message at ,  or sign up at .  If you live nearby and want to paint for JUST A HALF DAY or day, let us know and we will be happy to paint together!

How do I reserve?
After you book the venue you would like, we send a confirmation email.  We include our contact information and a place to meet on the day of the workshop.   A 250-Euro deposit per person is required upon booking; instructions on how to pay the balance will be detailed in a follow-up email.

How do I pay?
You can send a check (Euros or dollar equivalent) to our Italian or US address or pay through Paypal.    After your deposit is paid, we make arrangements for the balance — usually paid within a month before the workshop.

What if I never painted before?  Do I need to know how to paint?
A lot of our “painters” never painted before – this is the perfect situation to give it a try.  We’ll help you mix colors, lay out a picture, get started.  Some of our best painters are those who don’t have a fixed idea of how it will turn out.  On the other hand, we have welcomed professional painters.

Can I take my picture home?
Of course!  We offer a variety of canvas sizes, one of which will fit in your suitcase.  We can also ship your work back to you.

What about cancellations?
Cancellations are accepted up to one month before; otherwise the deposit is forfeited but may be used for a future tour or transferred to another person.

What if it’s raining?
We have a tent, or we can paint from inside the house, looking out.  Sorry, there are no cancellations in the event of rain, but we will do our best to keep dry.

How many people will there be?
The number of people depends on who signs up.  Sometimes  there will just be two, and other days up to six.   We can make the tour “exclusive” for a small upcharge.  Likewise, we can extend our workshop to larger groups.   We host students of all ages – and have had groups consisting of three generations!
